A Letter from the President
Dear Pinellas YDs,
As many of you know, we recently sent a delegation to Florida Young Democrats Conference in Miami-Dade County this past weekend. It was a soggy weekend but ultimately a success. I am pleased to announce that the Pinellas County Young Democrats received the FYD Best New Chapter Award with our new friends from Indian River County. This honor is a testament to our organization and the work we are doing. Our chapter is not going unnoticed. We were also able to secure the Florida Young Democrats Endorsement for several of our candidates including our very own club members Alex Heeren and Jennifer Webb!
Attending the conference was worth it. We were able to network with other YD Chapters from around the state. We were able to engage the Congressional District 27 Candidates at their Primary Debate. We were able to speak with and voice our concerns to Florida Democratic Party Chair, Terrie Rizzo. We heard lots of speeches and met many wonderful young candidates who are running for office from the School Board to the State House. The energy at the conference centered around one basic theme: THIS IS OUR TIME and OUR TIME IS NOW.
I believe that the Pinellas County Young Democrats should be proud of the progress we are making building our club. For the last two months, we have packed our general meeting and hosted just about every political campaign in Pinellas County. When we launched this project back in October we stated that we wanted to achieve three fundamental objectives:
- (1) Getting Democrats Elected,
- (2) Equip, Train, and Sustain the next generation of Pinellas Democrats, and
- (3) Advocate for issues and policies that are important to the Millennial, Centennial, and Youth generations.
