Resolution In Solidarity with the Furloughed Federal Employees in Pinellas County
WHEREAS, the Pinellas Young Democrats stands in solidarity with the hundreds of federal employees, contractors, and vendors affected by the partial shutdown of the US Government in Pinellas County,
WHEREAS, the Pinellas Young Democrats stands with the men and women of the US Coast Guard, particularly those serving in our community at the Clearwater Air Station and Sector St. Petersburg, keeping us safe and protecting our pristine shorelines.
WHEREAS, the Pinellas Young Democrats stands with the men and women of the Department of Homeland Security and the National Security apparatus supporting the Central Command missions in Tampa Bay;
WHEREAS, the Pinellas Young Democrats offer support to the scientists and researchers and professionals working at the US Geological Survey and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Pinellas County.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Senate Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans end the partial shutdown of the US Government by bringing the bill previously passed to a vote.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the President of the United States sign legislation to reopen the US Government or veto legislation and inform the American People and the furloughed employees as to why the US Government should remain closed.
IN THE WITNESS WHEREOF, We the Pinellas Young Democrats hereby approved this resolution on the 22nd Day of January 2019.
